What to know before starting

  • Acclimatize panels to room temperature for at least 24 hours before installation.
  • It’s best to cut the panels using a masonry blade or a fine-toothed blade installed in reverse. Watch how →
  • Use tin snips to cut the trims and avoid fully closing the blades while cutting for best results. Watch how →
  • Panels must be fastened to wooden studs or masonry walls every 16" on center to support the full Trusscore SlatWall load capacity of 75 lbs per square foot.
  • Do not overtighten fasteners and maintain a 1/4" gap between the ends of each panel and adjacent trims or panels.

Step 1: Measure and Mark Installation Area

Step 1A

If installing on drywall, use a stud finder to locate the first and last wall studs in your installation area.

Mark these points with a pencil for future reference.

Step 1B

Starting from the floor, measure and mark the desired height of the bottom of the Trusscore SlatWall installation area.

Use a level to extend a straight, horizontal line across the entire installation width.

Step 1C

Use a stud finder to locate all other studs within the installation area and mark their positions from top to bottom.

Studs should be no more than 16" apart on-center to support the full load rating of Trusscore SlatWall (75 lbs per square foot).

Step 2: Install Trim

Step 2A

Cut a piece of 1/2" J Trim to the exact width of your installation area using tin snips.

Align the bottom of the J Trim with the horizontal height mark from Step 1.

Fasten it to each stud using screws, except for the first and last studs at either end.

Step 2B

Cut two pieces of 3/4" J Trim to match the height of your installation area.

Position each piece so that it overlaps the bottom J Trim at the corners, creating a seamless joint.

Fasten through both trim flanges into the stud where they overlap.

Step 2C

Use a level to check that both vertical J Trims are plumb

Temporarily fasten the top of each piece to hold them in place before proceeding to the next step.

Step 3: Install Panels

Step 3A

Insert the first Trusscore SlatWall panel into the vertical J Trims and lower it into the bottom trim.

Fasten it to each stud through the slotted flange, leaving a 1/16" gap under each screw head.

Secure both ends by screwing through the overlapped J Trim flanges into the stud.

Step 3B

Insert the next panel into the vertical J Trim channels on both ends.

Lower it onto the previously installed panel, ensuring proper alignment.

Step 3C

Apply gentle downward pressure until you feel and hear a "snap," indicating the panels have securely interlocked.

Repeat this process for the remaining panels, fastening each one to the studs before moving to the next.

Step 4: Install Top Cap

Step 4A

Measure and cut Top Cap to match the width of your installation area.

Position the back lip of the Top Cap into the groove on the top edge of the uppermost Trusscore SlatWall panel.

Step 4B

Apply firm, even pressure to snap the bottom lip of the Top Cap onto the panel.

Ensure both vertical J Trims overlap the Top Cap at both ends for a polished finish.

Step 4C

Your Trusscore SlatWall installation is complete! Step back and admire your work.

You can now add any standard 3" slatwall accessories to start organizing your space.
