About The WAR Room
Located in Guelph, Ontario, The WAR Room gives players and coaches of all levels a place to train year-round. The 8,000+ square-foot climate-controlled facility features batting cages with advanced analysis tools, a dedicated warmup area, modern pitching machines, professional-grade turf, and meeting space to support next-level player development.

The Goal: Build a Durable, Year-Round Training Space
The WAR Room team needed to finish their new baseball facility quickly with materials tough enough to handle heavy daily use, resist impact damage, and reduce long-term maintenance.
Traditional drywall was on the table at first. But as Richard from Hynes Construction explained, it quickly became clear that drywall wouldn’t last under constant traffic from players and equipment.
“They were debating this big wall behind us—whether they were gonna do it in drywall and if they could make the timeline work—and they decided on Trusscore because we could get it installed and be finished within a few days. That was the bonus for them, they could get things done quickly and move on to the next phase.”
Trusscore Wall&CeilingBoard is a PVC-based panel system that installs over studs or existing walls with an interlocking tongue-and-groove design. The panels are lightweight, durable, and easy to clean, making them ideal for high-traffic, high-impact environments.
“One of the main reasons they picked Trusscore was because there’s gonna be a lot of kids in and out—heavy traffic—and drywall would’ve been a headache. They’d be repainting every year or two. With Trusscore, they can just wipe it down whenever they want, low maintenance, simple, and long lasting.”
The Challenge: Beating the Clock and Avoiding Maintenance Headaches
The team faced a tight construction timeline. They needed a wall system that could be installed fast, without the mess and curing time of drywall, and one that would stand up to years of wear and tear.
Richard broke it down:
“With drywall, you’re looking at a couple of days to hang it, then you’ve gotta tape, mud, prime, and paint, easily a couple of weeks before you’re done.”
To save time, the crew decided to install Trusscore panels horizontally.
“They were in a crunch, and everything was already framed. So instead of adding in strapping so that we could go vertical, which would add time to the install, we decided to do horizontal.”

The Solution: Turning to Trusscore for Speed and Simplicity
For Richard, this was his first time installing Trusscore, and it went smoothly.
“I watched a few videos online, and it went together nice and easy. We were in and out with one or two guys in about two and a half days.”
Once the first row was leveled, the rest clicked into place fast.
“The install was pretty straightforward. It probably took me about twenty-four hours total. If we’d had a scissor lift the whole time, it would’ve been even quicker. If you’ve done siding before, it’s similar, you just lock it in, level, and go.”
The wide 16-inch panels also made a difference:
“The nice thing about it was the speed, you cover square footage really quickly. It cut great too. Especially the trim, you can just keep tin snips on you and keep moving.”
The Outcome: A Fast Finish That’ll Stand Up for Years
The job wrapped up in a fraction of the time drywall would’ve taken, letting The WAR Room open on schedule. The finished space looks clean, professional, and tough enough to take daily hits from players and gear.
The success even led to more installations inside the facility.
“After putting it up, they used the offcuts to finish their storage and utility rooms—anywhere with sinks or spots that could get wet. They’re even thinking about adding wainscoting in other areas just to cut down on maintenance.”
Richard says he’s already planning to recommend Trusscore again:
“I’ll definitely recommend it to future customers. For commercial spaces like this, it’s a great option—quick to install, easy to clean, and no maintenance. I’d like to try it more in my own garage and shed, and I’d like to test the SlatWall system too.”
“One of the main reasons they picked Trusscore was because there’s gonna be a lot of kids that are in and out—heavy traffic—and they figured they’d end up getting a lot of damage to just a standard drywall. They liked that they can clean Trusscore whenever they want, and it’s going to be low maintenance for them in the future.”
