Converting an Aging Building into a Modern Athletic Space with Trusscore

The Goal: Breathing New Life into a Tired, Forgotten Building

The project came to Network Construction through a long-time client who had recently purchased an old commercial building — one that needed serious attention. Inside and out, the facility was showing its age.

“This project was introduced to me through a client of ours that we have done a lot of renovation work for," explains Sam Cook, the owner of Network Construction. "They bought the space prior to it looking like it does now. The interior and the exterior of this building were fully just down in the dumps of what it needed to be. So our job was to come in and bring it back to life.”

Much of the insulation was exposed or deteriorating. The walls and ceilings were in rough shape, and the building didn’t reflect the high-end, multi-use facility the client envisioned. They needed a fast, effective way to bring the interior up to standard — and Trusscore fit the bill.

“This building was old when we got it. A lot of the insulation was falling out of the walls and ceilings. The client wanted to cover it up and Trusscore was an easy pick.”

“[The client] came to us wanting something special. Sports and volleyball were always going to be part of it. He also needed space to park cars and store toys. So we brought that all together.”

“This job has brought a lot of different needs together in one space. We’ve got turf for athletic training, a volleyball court, and space for vehicles and toys. It’s a mixed-use facility, and Trusscore fits every area really well. It’s durable, easy to clean, and it looks great whether it’s in a training zone or a parking bay.”

To meet the demands of this multi-purpose facility, Network Construction turned to Trusscore. Over 2,000 square feet of turf was surrounded on three sides by Trusscore Wall&CeilingBoard, creating a seamless, professional-grade training environment that could also handle moisture, movement, and impact.

“We have roughly 2,000 square feet of turf that is lined with Trusscore on all three sides. There’s treadmills, weightlifting, saunas — people come in here and sweat. It’s designed for football and volleyball training, cold plunges, mobility, speed work — everything you'd expect from a high-end gym that you would be a member of, we’ve created that here.”

Installation was fast and clean, with 20-foot panels offering wide coverage and minimal seams. And with Trusscore, there’s no need for mudding, sanding, or painting—saving time while delivering a premium finish.

“I think [what makes Trusscore a standout product] is the ability to bring that professional finish right away. You can go directly over studs or over existing drywall, trim it out cleanly, and you’ve got a space that looks premium without the maintenance.”

“When this building was finished, our client was really satisfied. People were using the space for sports, and he loved the look and feel of the walls. One of the nice things with Trusscore is the light reflectivity. The semi-gloss finish makes the space feel clean and bright — like a professional facility. That matters to athletes. It looks sharp and holds up to wear.”

The Trusscore installation process proved efficient, especially with longer panel lengths and a complete selection of trim options that helped tie the whole space together.

“One of the biggest pieces of feedback was the speed of install. With 20-foot panels covering 16 inches in width, we covered a lot of square footage quickly. The coverage and the panel lengths helped a lot. These are 20-foot panels, which are hard to find in other products. We used probably 10 different Trusscore Trims — ½” J, ¾” J, inside cove, inside and outside corners, large Outside Corner, H Channel Snap-In Kit, 45° H Channel, and base trims. The options really help with custom finishing.”
