A Garage That Earns a Second Glance
The Rundown
When homeowner Cory Gallant started researching wall materials for his new garage, his priorities were clear: nothing that would mold, nothing he'd have to maintain, and a finish that would actually look good.
A recommendation from the team at his local Kent Building Supplies led him to Trusscore, and what he built is the kind of garage that turns heads when the door goes up.

The Challenge: Moisture, Maintenance, and Making It Last
Cory knew what he didn't want before he knew what he wanted. Past experience with mold and mildew on drywall had made him wary of any wall material that wasn't genuinely moisture-resistant—and his new garage had specific conditions that made that concern even more pressing.
"I have had issues in the past with mold and mildew on drywall and I certainly wanted to avoid that in this garage," Cory explained. "This garage has hot and cold water and floor drains. I am a neat freak and this allows me to wash my vehicles inside all winter long."
That last detail says a lot about the space Cory was building. This isn't a garage where occasional splashes are the concern—it's a garage designed to function as an interior vehicle wash bay through eastern Canadian winters, where road salt and moisture management are real considerations. He took the commitment to moisture resistance all the way: "I even went so far as to install PVC trim around the windows and I used exterior steel doors on the inside to eliminate all wood so nothing could rot."
The design intent was simple: Drywall had no place in it.
The Solution: The Right Call at the Right Time
Cory's introduction to Trusscore came through Tony Reid at Kent Building Supplies in Saint John, New Brunswick. He walked in with a specific set of requirements—clean, moisture-resistant, durable, good-looking—and Tony pointed him toward Trusscore. "I explained that I wanted something clean and neat that could resist moisture and my guy showed me Trusscore."
The combination of gray Trusscore Wall&CeilingBoard on the walls and white on the ceiling was a deliberate aesthetic choice. "I was concerned that white walls and a white ceiling would be 'too industrial' looking with an overabundance of white. I just wanted to mix it up a bit so I picked gray walls. I like how it turned out." The gray-white combination creates a finished, intentional look—less utility closet, more showroom.
The garage was completed in December 2025, and Cory reports the installation survived the Eastern Canadian winter without issue.
“I like how clean and finished everything looks. Everyone that sees it for the first time is impressed with the product.”
Cory Gallant, Happy HomeownerThe Outcome: A Garage Worth Showing Off
The finished garage has done exactly what Cory needed it to do. It's a clean, functional storage space with water access, floor drains, and walls that can handle whatever comes at them—including a car wash in the middle of February.
What he didn't necessarily expect was the reaction from everyone who sees it. The combination of gray walls, white ceiling, and the overall clean finish has made it the kind of space people comment on. "Everyone that sees it for the first time is impressed with the product," Cory noted.
For Cory, the practical performance is what matters most. The garage has held up through its first full winter, the surfaces clean easily, and there's no sign of the moisture-related problems he was determined to avoid. From the moisture resistance to the finished aesthetic, Trusscore delivered on the specific concerns that drove the decision—and the space looks better than he anticipated it would.
“I wanted something clean and neat that could resist moisture. I have had issues in the past with mold and mildew on drywall, and I certainly wanted to avoid that in this garage.”
