The Goal: Create a Podcast Studio That Looks as Good as It Sounds
When Buchner Manufacturing set out to build a podcast studio at their Newmarket, Ontario head office, they weren’t just creating a recording space — they were building a new platform to connect with their community.
“We saw an opportunity to connect with our audience in a new and engaging way,” they explained. “A podcast allows us to share industry insights, showcase new products, and highlight stories from our team and partners in a more personal format.”
To start, they needed a studio. But it was more than making a space to record audio. The space needed to visually reflect their brand, perform well under the demands of video production, and offer the kind of flexibility that would grow with the show.
“We wanted a space that was both visually appealing and highly flexible. It had to look great on camera, reflect our brand’s style, and offer easy customization for different podcast setups — all while being durable and easy to maintain.”
The Challenge: Bring Texture and Flexibility to an Uninspired Room
The original room was functional, but far from camera-ready. That wasn’t going to cut it for a space designed to represent the Buchner brand.
“The space was a standard office room — plain grey walls, functional, but uninspiring. The goal was to create a dynamic backdrop that would photograph and film well.”
Buchner considered several options for the studio walls, but none offered the flexibility they were after.
“We considered drywall with paint or paneling. We were planning to hang something permanent on the back wall, but we kept going back and forth on what that should be. Nothing felt quite right or flexible enough for our needs. Aesthetics and cleanability were key. We wanted a crisp, clean look for video production, and a surface that could stand up to regular use without looking worn or dirty.”

The Solution: Trusscore Delivers the Right Finish and Flexibility
Trusscore Wall&CeilingBoard paired with Trusscore SlatWall proved to be the ideal solution. The Buchner team transformed the office space into a modern studio with Wall&CeilingBoard and SlatWall on one wall, and SlatWall paired with their own aluminum siding on the opposite wall for contrast and branding.
“Trusscore SlatWall ended up being the perfect solution. It gave us the freedom to change the background as often as we like without committing to a fixed design. It also added much needed depth and dimension to the space.”
The clean, modern finish of Trusscore also elevated the visual impact of the small room without overwhelming it.
“One challenge was maximizing a relatively small footprint while still trying to elevate the space. The sleek, seamless finish of Trusscore, paired with its clean transitions, really helped elevate the space visually without adding bulk or making the room feel small.”
And when it came time to install, the process was fast and efficient — with less mess and less hassle than traditional materials.
“The installation was straightforward. Our installer found it easy to work with, and the panels fit together nicely. They had used Trusscore once before, so they were already familiar with it. Even so, picking it up again was quick and easy. The system made the whole process smooth from start to finish. We were impressed with how lightweight and easy the panels were to handle. There was very little mess compared to drywall or traditional materials, which helped cut down on cleanup times.”
The Outcome: A Clean, Modern Space That Stands Out on Camera
The final result exceeded expectations, visually and functionally.
“We were thrilled! The space looks clean, professional, and instantly more interesting on camera. It was exactly what we wanted from this renovation. The space photographs beautifully and really pops on camera. Functionally, it has also been great. The SlatWall makes it easy to switch out accessories and customize the background, which keeps the setup feeling fresh with minimal effort.”
The transformation even caught the attention of others within the company, too.
“Our employees have loved it. Everyone was shocked by the transformation from plain grey walls to a space full of texture and dimension. It really changed the overall feel of the room. We also shared a reel on Instagram showing the before-and-after, and it got a ton of positive feedback from customers and followers.”
The success of the podcast studio has even sparked ideas for how Trusscore could be used elsewhere in their operations.
“We’re actually in the process of building a training centre at our location, and we’ve been considering how we can incorporate Trusscore there. The SlatWall in particular could be a game-changer for organizing tools, PPE, cleaning supplies, product, and accessories. Like a tool bench, but on a much larger scale for groups of five people. The durability and functionality make it a great fit for high-traffic, hands-on spaces like that.”

“Don’t be afraid to think outside the box. While Trusscore is often used in industrial spaces or garages, it’s incredibly adaptable. With a little creativity, it can bring function and style to offices, studios, or even residential spaces!”
