Indoor Air Quality

Providing adequate air quality for occupants is one of the most important functions of a building. The United States Environmental Protection Agency states “Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) refers to the air quality within and around buildings and structures, especially as it relates to the health and comfort of building occupants. Understanding and controlling common pollutants indoors can help reduce your risk of indoor health concerns.”

Some of the health effects associated with indoor air pollutants include:

Formaldehyde is one of the most common and concerning volatile organic compounds (VOCs) due to its health impacts. The best way to avoid exposure and related health concerns to maintain healthy indoor air quality is to use materials that do not off-gas this harmful substance.

VOC Compliant Building Materials

Volatile organic compounds, or VOCs, are carbon-containing substances that easily become vapors or gases. Low VOC materials are recommended to ensure a healthier space for occupants and contribute to overall IEQ. 

The U.S. Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA) summarizes, “The qualities of good IAQ should include comfortable temperature and humidity, adequate supply of fresh outdoor air, and control of pollutants from inside and outside of the building.”

This is the leading VOC standard used to evaluate VOC emissions from building products such as flooring, suspended ceilings, insulation, wall panels, paints and coatings, and wall coverings. The CDPH standard is referenced by some of the most widely used green building rating systems and green construction codes including USGBC LEED, CalGreen, and more.

Mold Resistant Wall and Ceiling Paneling 

In addition to being low-VOC emitting, Trusscore wall and ceiling panels are also mold and moisture resistant. The inert composition of Trusscore PVC panels won’t support the growth of mold or mildew that can be very harmful to occupants and a source of indoor air pollution.

Trusscore bright white panels feature high light reflectivity (LR) of 0.90. This means that 90% of the light that strikes the surface of our panels will be reflected.
