When installing PVC-based panels like Trusscore Wall&CeilingBoard or Trusscore SlatWall, the trims you choose will play a big role in the overall aesthetic of your room.

Whether you’re looking just for function or looking to add a decorative element to your space, there’s a PVC-based trim or molding out there for you. In this blog post, we go over the Trusscore trim offering and provide you with suggestions for beautiful, high-performing alternatives from other PVC trim manufacturers.

The Perks of Using PVC Trims

PVC trims are increasing in popularity for interior spaces because they outperform their wood or composite counterparts while offering similar aesthetic appeal:

  • Durability: PVC trims are resistant to rot, decay, and insect damage. Plus, unlike wood, they don’t absorb moisture so they won’t warp, swell, or split.
  • Low Maintenance: PVC trims are resistant to moisture, insects, and UV rays, so they don’t need to be regularly painted or stained.
  • Versatility: PVC trims come in a variety of styles, sizes, and colors, offering flexibility in design.
  • Ease of Installation: PVC trims are lighter and easier to work with than traditional materials, so they’re faster and more straightforward to install, and they don’t have to be painted after they’re installed.
  • Cost-Effective: While PVC trims may have a higher upfront cost compared to other materials, their long-term durability and low maintenance create cost savings over time.

Decorative and Design-Forward PVC Trim Alternatives for Trusscore Installations

Is the Trusscore trim offering too utilitarian or industrial looking for your residential space? Don’t worry – you’re not locked in to only using our trims.

In fact, you can buy decorative PVC trimboards and moldings from other manufacturers and that are easy to install and guaranteed to accentuate your Trusscore panels. They're big, chunky, and beautiful, and they offer all the same benefits as Trusscore Trims while being more design-forward.

Before you start shopping, let's talk profiles. There are four different types of PVC finishing trims that play nicely with Trusscore:

When working with other PVC trims, keep these tips in mind for a smooth installation process:

  • Don’t install Trusscore trims in areas where you plan to install third party PVC trims.
  • Nail guns are best suited for installing many PVC trims and moldings, but it’s important to regulate the air pressure so your fasteners penetrate the surface of the trim without causing unfixable damage.
  • Use fasteners or screws that can penetrate at least an inch into the supporting framing but be careful that the fasteners you’re using to install third party trims don’t hit the screws you used to fasten Trusscore products.
  • For trims and moldings five inches or less in width, use two fasteners per stud. For wider products, use three fasteners per stud for a stronger hold.

In the world of DIY, guidance is your best friend. Always consult the installation guides provided by individual trim manufacturers when using other PVC trims with Trusscore products. It's your insurance for a job well done.
