What to know before starting

  • Acclimatize panels to room temperature for at least 24 hours before installation.
  • It’s best to cut the panels using a masonry blade or a fine-toothed blade installed in reverse. Watch how →
  • Use tin snips to cut the trims and avoid fully closing the blades while cutting for best results. Watch how →
  • Panels must be fastened to wooden studs or masonry walls every 16" on center to support the full Trusscore SlatWall load capacity of 75 lbs per square foot.
  • Do not overtighten fasteners and maintain a 1/4" gap between the ends of each panel and adjacent trims or panels.

Step 1: Measure and Mark Installation Area

Step 1A

Each panel must start and finish on a stud. If installing over drywall, locate and mark the first and last studs using a stud finder.

Step 1B

Measure from the floor and mark the desired bottom height of the SlatWall area. Extend a line across the full installation width using a level.

Step 1C

For drywall surfaces, mark the entire length of each stud in the installation area from top to bottom using a stud finder and a level.

Step 2: Install Trim

Step 2A

Using tin snips, cut two Universal Base pieces for the first and last vertical stud lines. Align the screw flange pointing into the SlatWall area. Fasten only at the top and bottom ends.

Step 2B

Measure and cut a Universal Base to fit between the two vertical bases. Align it with the horizontal height line from Step 1B, ensuring the screw flange points into the SlatWall area. Fasten at each stud location.

Step 3: Install Panels

Step 3A

Position the first SlatWall panel so each end is 1/4" from the teeth channel of the Universal Base. Align the bottom flush with the bottom Universal Base. Level the panel before fastening at each stud location.

Step 3B

Place the next panel on top of the previous one, aligning both ends.

Step 3C

Apply gentle downward pressure to interlock the panel with the one below. You will feel and hear a “snap” when properly connected. Fasten at each stud location, including ends overlapping the Universal Base.

Step 4: Install Top Cap

Step 4A

Cut the Top Cap to size. Insert the back lip into the top groove of the SlatWall panel, then snap the bottom lip onto the panel.

Step 4B

Align the teeth of the Snap-In J Trim with the Universal Base on the bottom and sides, then press together until tight with the SlatWall panels and Top Cap.

Step 4C

And you’re done! Stand back and admire your new Trusscore SlatWall installation. Add 3" SlatWall accessories to start organizing your space.
